BRYN WALSH
Bryn has competed to Grand Prix level dressage and all levels in between. She has her USDF Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, her USDF Bronze and Silver Bars (for musical freestyles), and her MDS Platinum medal. She is a United States Equestrian Federation 'r' judge with musical freestyle designation. She is the Head Coach of the University of Maine Dressage Team, and secretary of the Maine Dressage Society. Bryn is also a licensed social worker. While Bryn is passionate about dressage, she has past experience in hunters, equitation, jumpers, and eventing which gives her a well-rounded outlook on dressage and how it applies to all aspects of riding, for all horses.
Bryn began instructing many years ago. Instructing and training all kinds of horses and riders quickly became a love of hers. She works with riders and horses of all ages, abilities, and goals, including children with mental and physical challenges, in order to progress along the classical training scale. She concentrates on creating a relationship that is beneficial to both horse and rider. Having fun while learning is always the ultimate goal!
It’s an intense job that Bryn enjoys very much! Bryn has continued to compete to stay active in the equine community at large because she feels being competitively active is very important to teaching...and because she LOVES it! She has become a USEF 'r' judge and is the process of securing her 'R' license in order to add another facet to her ability to train, teach, and coach!
The many years at Puckerbrush has reaffirmed Bryn's teaching philosophy-you must be able to have fun with your horse in a successful, safe and competent way in order to get the most out of both horse and rider! She believes that there is no one set way to teach rider or horse to listen to each other. Individuality at all levels of training is very important to the success of each horse and rider combination.
Bryn loves working at Puckerbrush with Katie Goodspeed, Arlo Redman and Janey Knight. Each day brings more fun, laughter, knowledge, friendships and horses than the last!
Bryn has ridden under a variety of instructors including but not limited to- JJ Tate, Heather Blitz, Gunnar Ostergaard, Evi Strasser, Michael Klimke, Jane Savoie, Phillip Dutton, Lucinda Green, Pam Goodrich, Christoph Hess and Sigfried Winkler.
